10:26 am - Are you ready?

Faire is just over a week away. Are you ready? I thought I was, but after spending two and a half hours on the site last night I'm really not sure that I am ...

  • It is 111 miles round trip. That is 2220 extra miles I'll be spending in my car over  the next 10 weeks
  • My freshly detailed car now has a nice coating of dust.
  • I have at least two dozen bug bites ... and believe me, THEY ITCH!! (must remember to purchase bug stuff this week)
  • Granted, I was not in faire appropriate shoes, but my feet were so filthy that it I was in the shower 3 seconds after I arrived home.
  • The drivers on 495 and 50 are a bunch of oranges.
  • Again, I was not wearing the appropriate shoes, but OW, OW, OW, my legs hurt today.

I do admit it was nice to stroll around the site to see the changes, and to see so many people that I seldom get to spend time with, but I'm still not sure if I'm *ready*.

(You won't believe what they said ... | You have something to say?)

This is why I've been working out all these weeks: because I know that once I get started, I won't stop... and the next day, I'll feel it.

"Oranges", eh? Is that some sort of slam on Floridians? (Not that they don't have their share of driving problems....)

I hope there is some thought given to insecticide spraying, if that's even possible so close to the water sources. I have never really had a problem with the insects before, and don't want to start this year. Thanks for the heads-up!

It will be great to see the site changes, you and everyone again at the Faire! I'm even looking meekly forward to the routine dust removal, god save me....

Have you noticed the bees/yellowjackets seem overzealous this summer, though?

Someone swallowed a bug onstage the other night. He wins. ;)

Crickets aren't *nearly* as bad as grasshoppers... they can *hurt* when they land on you, if the material between you and them (if any) isn't thick enough.

Crickets are annoying... but I *hate* the grasshoppers.

By the time the biting bugs and mosquitoes reach 7:00 it's pub-sing, and they may just be too blotto off any typical pub affectionado to bite others! Yaye for inebriating mosquitoes! (did I just say that?)

But just look at how much shorter the trip is this year compared to LAST year!
