10:14 pm - Wedding stuff - not on the wedding filter

Paging thatliardiego, barbie_toes, i_kissandra and any other friends that are really into music. I'm still trying to find a first dance song for Phil and I. After going through all the songs on my iPod (all 10,000+) and listening to the radio again (which I've not done much since the iPod purchase) for the past couple of weeks I'm lost and asking for suggestions. While I appreciate Unforgettable, When I Fall in Love, It Had to be You and many of the other top requested first dance songs, I'm looking for something different. I'm asking my eclectic group of friends, with very eclectic taste in music, to give me some suggestions. What are some good love songs that thousands of other couples have not used? For instance, I heard I'm Yours by Jason Mraz the other day and thought that would be fun. HELP!!

(You won't believe what they said ... | You have something to say?)

Sorry to ask a stupid question, but... does it have to be a "love song" in the classic sense of what one usually would consider a "love song"?

No. It does not have to fit the classic definition of a love song. :)

You and Me – Lifehouse
I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles) – The Proclaimers
You Sexy Thing – Hot Chocolate
Only You – Yaz

I Touch Myself – Divinyls
Rain or Shine (a classic love song - loads of covers)

Well, we danced to "As the world falls down" from Labyrinth. My other thought was The Power of Love from Frankie Goes to Hollywood.

certainly neither are typical. :)

other thoughts...

It's Gonna Get Better (Genesis from the album Genesis)
Blood of Eden (Peter Gabriel, Us)
Be Still My Beating Heart (Sting, ...Nothing Like the Sun)

I don't know how you feel about country, but have you listened to Keeper of the Stars? (Tracy Byrd, lyrics here.

I love country (much to Tammy's dismay when she rode 3000 miles with me). I've got Keeper of the Stars on my possible list, but it is on most of the 50 top requested lists and I was hoping to find something more original. Thanks for the suggestion.

I've always loved "The way you look tonight", Tony Bennett. If you do want to check something more "traditional", I'd look into Michael Buble or Harry Connick Jr.

I would like to second
Fall In Love With Me - Booth and the Bad Angel
As well as either of the Sting suggestions.

And then there's Peter and my favorite song -
Somebody by Depeche Mode. If you have never heard young Strum do this, take a listen !

i've heard lots of 'modern' songs sung at faire, including the Pink Floyd coming from the Boar's Head a couple weekends ago. but hearing him sing Depeche Mode on a soft guitar was my biggest Out-of-Body, disorienting experiences at faire. it *was* pretty! it was just one of those things i never ever expected to hear inside the fairegrounds. :)

DM is my favourite band EVAR. hehehe.
